Who was Nefertiti ?
From early times in the history of the world there appeared women who were famous for their beauty. Also there were many others who made their mark in history as administrators. Nefertiti, the queen of Pharaoh Amenhotep IV or Ikhnaton, was one such woman. Not much is known about Nefertiti. But between 1353 and 1336 BC she ruled Egypt jointly with her husband, the king Ikhnaton.

- Nefertiti was one of the most beautiful and powerful women in ancient Egypt. When Ikhnaton introduced the worship of the new sun god 'Aton' Nefertiti helped him in every way. She also helped the king in administering the country. After the death of Ikhnaton in 1336 Nafertiti took upon herself the reins of administration. Till 1330 BC Nefertiti ruled Egypt as its Pharaoh. In Egypt, however, there was no scope for female ruler. That is why Nafertiti run the administration in the guise of a man. Though not recognised formally, Nafertiti was the first female Pharaoh of Egypt.
